What is it?
Embryo donation is an assisted reproduction procedure in which embryos generated through in vitro fertilisation techniques (IVF) are donated by anonymous patients to other patients once they have achieved their own reproductive wishes.
These unused embryos from other patients, which may be the result of successful IVF treatments, are transferred to the recipient after a cryotransfer process, following hormonal preparation to favour implantation in the uterus, with the aim of achieving pregnancy and the birth of a healthy baby.
This procedure offers an alternative means of conception for couples facing reproductive challenges and who have exhausted other treatment options.
